Filter Replacement and Maintenance in Cockrell Hill
A filter only works while it has capacity left. We change cartridges and membranes on the systems in your home, check the housings for wear and show you a photo of each old filter next to the new one before we leave.
Keeping the System You Already Paid For Working
Every filter fills up. Sediment cartridges clog with grit, carbon runs out of surface to grab chlorine, and reverse osmosis membranes slowly lose their ability to reject dissolved solids. Nothing looks wrong from the faucet until the taste comes back or the pressure drops.
We take care of that on a schedule that fits your water use. We service whole-house carbon tanks, iron and sediment filters, under-sink reverse osmosis units and water softeners, including systems another company installed.
You get a picture of each spent cartridge beside its replacement, plus a short note on anything we noticed in the housing. If a part is cracked or worn, you can see it for yourself and decide what to do.
What a Maintenance Visit Covers
- Cartridge and media changes
- We match each replacement to your housing by length, diameter and micron rating, whether it is a sediment cartridge, a carbon block or something more specialized. For whole-house carbon tanks, we look at media age and tell you plainly whether it needs replacing yet.
- Reverse osmosis service
- We replace the pre-filters and post-filter, check the membrane and test the water coming out of the faucet. Membranes usually outlast the cartridges, so we only change one when the reading says it is time.
- Housing and O-ring check
- Old O-rings flatten and dry out, and that is where most slow drips start. We clean each housing, lubricate or replace the seal and point out any cracks or stress marks we find.
- Tank sanitizing
- On RO systems we sanitize the lines and storage tank during the filter change, which helps with stale or off tastes.
- Pressure and flow readings
- We note the water pressure before and after the change, so you can see the difference a fresh filter makes.
- Softener check-in
- If you have a softener, we check the salt level, look for bridging in the brine tank and confirm the regeneration settings still suit your household.
Signs Your Filters Are Due
The chlorine taste is back
When carbon is used up, that pool-water smell returns at the tap. It is usually the first thing people notice.
Pressure has dropped
When grit packs a sediment cartridge, every tap downstream feels it. The shower loses its push and the washing machine takes longer to fill.
The RO faucet trickles
Slow fill at the drinking faucet often means tired pre-filters or a low tank charge.
You can't remember the last change
If nobody knows the date and there's no sticker on the housing, it is almost certainly overdue.
Brown or slimy cartridges
A cartridge that looks dark through a clear housing has done its job and has nothing left to give.
Drips under the housing
Moisture around a filter head usually points to a worn O-ring. Catching it early saves a cabinet floor.
What Affects the Cost
Most of the price is the filters themselves, and those vary a lot by system. We tell you which cartridges your setup takes and what the visit will cost before we start, so nothing on the bill is a surprise.
Number of systems
One reverse osmosis unit under the kitchen sink takes far less time than a setup with a sediment prefilter, a carbon tank and an RO system all due at once. More systems mean more parts and a longer visit.
Cartridge type
Standard sediment cartridges cost less than specialty carbon blocks, iron media or proprietary filters made for one brand.
Condition of the parts
Cracked housings, worn faucets or a dead RO tank add to the visit. We show you what we found and let you decide before we replace anything.
How overdue it is
Badly clogged systems may need extra flushing or sanitizing to get the taste and flow back.
What Happens on a Service Visit
- 1
Call us first
Tell us what systems you have and roughly how old they are. If you can read the brand and model from the label, we can bring the correct cartridges and usually wrap up in a single trip.
- 2
Photos on arrival
We photograph every housing and each used filter as we remove it. That shows the state of things when we got there.
- 3
Water off, filters out, housings cleaned
We shut the supply or switch to bypass, replace the cartridges, clean each housing and reseat the seals. Each system is typically without water for just a short time.
- 4
Flushing and checking for leaks
Fresh carbon is flushed until the water comes out clear. We check each fitting under pressure and wipe everything dry before moving to the next system.
- 5
Your record and the next service date
We review the before-and-after photos with you, mark the change date on every housing and let you know when the next visit is due.

Questions About Filter Service
How often do my filters need replacing?
Sediment and carbon cartridges typically last six to twelve months, depending on how much water you use and what it carries. RO membranes generally go longer. Once we've seen your old filters on a first visit, we can set a schedule that fits.
Will you service a system someone else installed?
Usually, yes. Popular brands and standard housing sizes are everyday work for us. Some systems use a cartridge sold only by the maker, and if yours is one, we'll let you know on the call whether we can source it before booking a visit.
Couldn't I swap the filters on my own?
Lots of people do their own cartridge changes, and we're happy to show you how. A service visit adds a check of the housings and seals, RO sanitizing, and pressure readings before and after. Those are the parts most often missed when it's done at home.
How long will my water be off?
Not long, as a rule. Each system is shut down briefly while we change and flush it, and the rest of the house usually stays on through a bypass.
What are the photos for?
They let you see exactly what we took out of your system and what we put back. They also give you a dated record to compare across visits, or to have on hand if you get water testing done or add something like whole-house carbon filtration.

Ready for Fresh Filters?
Give us the brand and model of what you have, and we will show up with the right cartridges. Before we leave, you see the old filters next to the new ones and know when the next change is due.
